I specialize in natural light photography and shoot all sessions outdoors except for newborn sessions. I will travel to a location of your choice within the Dayton area including your home. I can also provide suggestions for locations to shoot as well. I will monitor the weather and contact you the day of your session to confirm meeting time and location or reschedule if necessary due to poor weather or lighting.
BOOKING YOUR SESSION:
After booking your session by phone or email, your appointment time will be held for one week. The session payment is due one week after booking in order to finalize your booking. You can make payments by mailing a check or use a credit card by requesting an electronic paypal invoice that I will send to your email address. Please email me if you would like to use paypal and let me know what email address you have connected to your paypal account, so that I can send you an invoice.
VERY IMPORTANT: Newborns need to be photographed within the first 5-10 days of life. I will not photograph newborns past 2 weeks old! Call me while you are pregnant and let me know your due date. After you deliver give me a call and I will make your session a priority. The sooner the better. Newborns tend to loose that curled up position quickly! Also, colic and newborn acne develops around three weeks of age. I like to do these sessions in my home due to the large number of props that I use. I don't like moving them all around plus there are just too many to bring. Also, I know how to best use the natural light in my home. If you would like me to come to you, there will be an extra fee.
WHAT TO WEAR:
This is actually very important!
Newborns photograph best naked with just a diaper and maybe a hat. I provide hats, headbands, wraps and diaper covers to choose from, or you can purchase your own. A wonderful place to purchase newborn hats is etsy.com (all handmade knitted hats).
Children photograph best in lots of colors, layers and textures. Hats are a must even if you take it off for a few! The more trendy the better.
If you are having family photos done, then dress your children in coordinating layers and colors. Then pick a color or two from their outfits for you and your spouse to wear. I know it can be stressful, just try to make it fun with lots of accessories! Believe me, it makes a huge difference! Give me a call if you have any questions!
Suggestions for kid sesssions:
Girls-Matilda Jane or similar dresses on etsy (pottermomof3 shop on etsy), etsy accessories (poppyrow shop on etsy for headbands), GAP, J crew, Janie and Jack, Ralph Lauren brand--can't go wrong. I have tons of awesome hats, headbands and leg warmers that I can bring as well.
Boys-J crew, GAP, and Ralph Lauren. Boys are much harder--just don't forget to bring a hat--like a newsboy hat. Belts, suspenders, ties, cool button up-dress up vests, layers, fedora hat--all with jeans is really cute-or shorts in the summer.
Newborns--I have everything you will need. Believe me--I usually get a new hat for every session!! Not to mention new props all the time!
Family sessions-Don't match everyone (please do not put everyone in a white shirt and jeans)! Just coordinate. For example, put a little boy in a mustard yellow sweater with a navy checked shirt underneath, another little boy in a dark grey button up vest with a checked button up shirt underneath (both boys in jeans), dad in jeans with a grey sweater vest and button up shirt mom in a grey or pattern dress with similar colors, a belt around dress with jean jacket or cardigan sweater and cute heals. Both boys in newsboy hats and if their is a little girl put her a skirt or dress solid color with ruffles and bright colored--like mustard yellow and grey dot leg warmers with cute flat shoes. You can add a flower to her hair from etsy.
JUST REMEMBER: don't skimp on photo day outfits-this image may be on your wall forever!!
AFTER YOUR SESSION AND ORDERING PRINTS:
After your session, I select up to 25 images (around 15 for newborn sessions) from the shoot for editing and retouching to ensure optimum quality. If you have signed a model release I will post a few images from the session on my open blog within a day or two. Once I have finished the editing process I will post the images in a secure gallery for you to view within two to three weeks from the date of your session. I will notify you by email when your gallery has been posted. The notification message will contain your unique password that allows you to access the gallery. You can share this password with family and friends so that they can view the images and place their own orders. The gallery will be accessible for a period of 3 weeks so orders must be placed within the three weeks. If you need more time to view your gallery there will be a relisting fee of $35 for each additional 3 week period you need the images available on the gallery. Once again, you can pay by sending me a check or with a credit card through paypal. After I receive your payment, I will place your order and you should receive it within two weeks. A $10 shipping fee will be added to each order.
